The problem with shooting the messenger

If we shoot the messenger, we miss out.
The questions of ‘why’ and ‘how’ and ‘who’ go without answers because we just blame the messenger for all that.
If we shoot the messenger, we miss out because we rob ourselves of the opportunity of getting the facts and the full picture.

The problem with shooting the messenger is, we miss out on the opportunity for gaining understanding.

Our elected officials are messengers.
Messengers because they are mirrors of the majority and this is a key point to remember during these interesting times.

It’s not them and their views necessarily creating the agenda, the direction, “the vibe Your Honour”.
They are a reflection of the agenda, the direction, “the vibe Your Honour”.
They are messengers telling us about ourselves, the state of our society.

Rather than pointing the finger at the messenger, might we have the courage and the curiosity to put down how we feel about them and what they are saying and instead listen to them, ask questions of them and of ourselves.

If we feel they are bullying, lying, cheating, may we have the courage and curiosity to see where we are bullying, lying and cheating; we as individuals and we as a society.

If we feel they are war mongering, stealing, treating others disrespectfully, may we have the courage and the curiosity to ask where we are war mongering among our people, stealing, treating others disrespectfully.

If we want to hear more honesty, more conviction and feel more harmony and peace from our leaders, may we find the courage to BE honest and convicted in living in harmony and peace with others.
